1930s-40s Swedish Carved Wooden Man Figure with Cane and Bag - Trygg or Larsson Style

$135.00

This charming 1930s to 1940s wooden flat-plane carved figure shows a man with his cane and striped traveling bag. It is very similar to the work of the famous Swedish carver Carl Johan Trygg (active from 1910 to 1954) known for the whimsey of his carved figures. Similar figures were also carved by Lorens Larsson of Halmstad, Sweden (active during the 1930s-1940s). Features of this man espeically reminiscent of Trygg’s work are his face and hands, the slouchy cap, and his jaunty tie. He is hand-painted, and because of his age has a few paint rubs along the sharp edges of the carving.

Measures 6-1/4 inches tall.

Very good vintage condition.
