Vintage Chinese Guardian Lion or Foo Dog Enameled Sterling Brooch
This big, beautiful, utterly delightful guardian brooch is in the form of a lion dog. It is wonderfully 3 dimensional, crafted from gilded sterling filigree. The enamel is incredibly detailed and the back and head are set with small lapis lazuli cabochons. This is a very high quality Chinese export piece, dating to the latter half of the 20th century. Safety clasp holds well. Marked S925.
Measures 2-1/2 x 1-7/8 inches. Rises 3/4 inch proud. Weighs 0.8 ounce (20 grams).
Excellent vintage condition, with one chip to white enameling under lion’s mane. This can only be seen under extremely close inspection with magnification.
