Victorian Mideastern Style Faux Amethyst Belt Buckle

This very substantial gilt brass buckle is highly sculptural with repousse medallions, ornate scrollwork, and applied ropework. Each half of the buckle is collet-set with faceted glass faux amethysts. Dating to circa 1895, this buckle is sturdily made and entirely wearable today. The Art Nouveau styling brings to mind the artwork of Alphonse Mucha. This very substantial gilt brass buckle is highly sculptural with repousse medallions, ornate scrollwork, and applied ropework. Each half of the buckle is collet-set with faceted glass faux amethysts. Dating to circa 1895, this buckle is sturdily made and entirely wearable today.
