Silver & Turquoise Native American Stud Earrings

$55.00

These deceptively simple earrings are the work of a highly skilled craftsperson. Each of the small square earrings has a bright sky-blue cabochon of turquoise collet-set at its center. The turquoise is surrounded by a halo of deliberately darkened patination, which makes the color of the turquoise pop. The placement of the earring posts on the backs of the earrings creates a diamond-shape when worn, rather than a boxy square. The silver is purer than sterling and the construction is sturdy. Each earring is marked 950. The maker’s mark is a capital A with a second symbol that could be a backwards S or a stylized Z or 2. We have been unable to identify this artist, but the style, markings, and quality indicate Zuni origins. Earring posts and backs hold securely.

Measure 1/2 inch in diameter. Each rises 3/8 inch proud from base to top of cabochon. Total weight is 4 grams.

Excellent vintage condition.
