This outstanding bracelet dates to the mid-1950s, the height of the “glitter rock” or “confetti lucite” craze. These dark blue lucite cabochons are filled with flash and color, reflecting the opalescence of brightly hued bits of foil inside the stones. They are set at the center of 6 ornate Renaissance Revival openwork antiqued gold-tone plaques, accented by small faceted black glass stones and glass faux pearls. It is held securely closed by a large, decorated fold-over clasp. The decorations on each reticulated plaque include an Art Nouveau-style female face with flowing hair, a dragon with curled tail, a leaf, and a second woman wearing a puffy bouffant cap and low-cut gown. The overall effect is rich, dark, and moody. This is a known Selro piece though it is unsigned as is most of their production.
Measures 1-3/4 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches long.
Excellent vintage condition.
