This is a beautiful small vase crafted from a honey-colored wood burl in the 1970s. With tight grain, lovely swirls, and some desired knots and grooves breaking the symmetry of the smooth finish, this is an outstanding example of the wood-turner’s art. At one time it would have had a glass test tube insert, but that is no longer present. The finish is intact overall, but there is some evidence of past water staining at the mouth of the vase. We have not oiled or altered the vase in any way, so the new owner will be able to address this (or not!) as they desire. Foiled paper label on the bottom reads MUIR WOODS California. This national monument north of San Francisco has been a beloved destination for hikers for more than 100 years.
Measures 4-3/4 inches tall, 2-1/2 inches across the top. It is just over 3 inches in diameter at the widest point.
Excellent vintage condition, with light water staining at top as noted in the description and in the photos.
