This lovely vintage traditional shell necklace has been handmade in a thoughtful and complex design. Triple strands of pure white and speckled brown nassa shells are gathered by speckled shells into 8 carefully composed sections, in a style known as pikake. The necklace is finished by a very long single strand of speckled shells. These white and speckled shells are two natural variations of this type of sea snail, also sometimes referred to as mini-conchs or dog whelks. The extra long length of this necklace makes it perfect for layering with other shell or flower leis.
Measures 36 inches long.
