Vintage Hand Carved & Painted Flat Plane Canadian Folk Art Bracelet

$45.00

This delightful wooden bracelet dates to the middle of the 20th century and appears to have been created as a souvenir of Ste Anne de la Pocatiere in Quebec. A nearly identical bracelet, marked with this information has been seen. Four pairs of old men and women face each other around the bracelet, all in traditional garb. One man without a matching woman separates two of the pairs. These faces in profile are carved in high relief from plaques of light colored, light weight wood and are brightly decorated with colorful paint. All of the people are individuals, with different features, expressions, and clothing. The wooden plaques are strung on two strands of dark brown elastic to form a stretch bracelet. The elastic is strong and stretchy. This is an outstanding example of classic flat plane style folk art wood caving.

Measures 1 inch wide and 6-1/2 inches inside circumference. Would easily stretch to accomodate a larger wrist.

Excellent vintage condition.
