The quality, construction, and materials used in this beautiful bracelet are typical of those seen in China prior to the Second World War. Against a rich green background, 4 colorful butterflies flit amongst flower and cloud motifs. At each edge of the bracelet is a scalloped red border. All the colors are created by skillfully applied enamel, with the colors separated by metal wires. The thick-walled brass bangle is hollow, and punctuated inside by chrysanthemum-shaped perforations. These are both decorative and functional, as they allowed heat to escape during the firing of the enamel. There is no damage to the enameling. The brass inside the bracelet has not been polished and retains a lovely patina.
Measures 1-1/4 inch wide and 8 inches inside circumference.
Excellent vintage condition.
