These very sculptural gold-tone earrings are in the form of oversized links of chain. Dating to the 1980s, they are reminiscent of the Pop Art movement from a decade earlier. Although they are large in scale, the openwork design makes them light and easy to wear. The clip backs hold well and are marked PAT. 2733491. This patent number, which refers to the clip mechanism, was awarded in 1956. This same clip was used on high-end costume jewelry earrings through the 1980s.
