This beautiful vintage necklace was created in the South Pacific. A large sturdy abalone shell pendant is suspended from a thick necklace composed of 4 strands of off-white seed beads, with wooden bead accents. The large central disk of abalone is surrounded by an inlaid mosaic of smaller abalone tiles, to create a sun motif. The double strand of white beads attaching the pendant to the necklace has beads that are the same color as the others, but are larger in size. The color of the beads is especially nice, as they vary slightly in tints of beige, gray, and mauve. This gives them a very natural sea-shell appearance. The closure is a wood or coconut shell button-shaped bead that is held securely within a loop of beads. When worn, the pendant lies perfectly at the top of the breastbone, beneath the notch of the throat.
Pendant measues 2-1/2 inchs. Necklace length is 19 inches.
