This beautiful brooch was painted by a talented amateur during the china painting craze of 1880 to 1920. Judging by the type of clasp, it appears to date to circa 1910. The quality of the painting is excellent, featuring lushly colored and lovingly depicted wild roses. The border is gilded, framing the piece perfectly. This brooch is larger than is commonly seen in china painting jewelry. The painted porcelain plaque is securely held by a gold-tone metal back.
