1994 Hakon & Kristin XVII Winter Olympics Norwegian Wood Carving Figurines

These charming handcarved and painted wooden figures depict Hakon and Kristin, the mascots of the 1994 Winter Olympics held in Lillehammer, Norway. The figurines were sold by the Way Nor A.S. shop in the city of Bergen. Hakon and Kristin wear traditional Norwegian midieval-era clothing, and each has on its chest an affixed metal medallion showing the Olympic rings and LILLEHAMMER 94. They are carved in the traditional Scandinavian flat plane style and brightly decorated. Their cheerful faces are especially well crafted, with bright blue eyes, smiling mouths, and Kristin’s freckled nose. Great care has also been taken in the carving and painting of the hair and clothing of both figures. Identifying information is burned onto the bottom of each.
