1950s Silver Foiled Glass Angle Cut Tube Bead Bib Necklace - 12 Strands
This elegant necklace features deceptively simple construction. Twelve strands of these very interesting and unusual glass beads are gathered into two bunches, each bunch bundled into filigree gold-tone caps that are attached to the fan-shaped textured gold-tone findings at each end of the necklace. The beads are small, measuring only 4 mm. in diameter. Each is a slice from a tube of clear glass impregnated with silver foil, and these slices are all different lengths. The angles of the cuts vary from one bead to another and the depth and intensity of the silver inclusions varies, as well. Additional richness is added to these beads by the slight variations in the color of the silver and the way each reflects light, creating shades of silver and gray that shift when worn. A chain of dark gold beads extends from the gathers. The hook clasp holds well to this chain.
Measures 17 inches long.
Very good vintage condition.
