1940s Walter Lampl Carved Lapis Sterling Brooch

$535.00

This beautiful and important brooch features an intricately carved oval of lapis lazuli in a Retro Modern style scrolling frame. The flower finding patented by Carl Schraysshuen in 1941 is included in this brooch, which is featured in our blog post about his life and work. The design is graceful and timeless. The use of this carved stone, imported from China by Walter Lampl before the Second World War, with the wartime use of sterling makes it a remarkable bridge between this company’s earlier and later work. Marked STERLING WL. Safety clasp holds well.

Measures 2 x 2-1/4 inches.

Excellent vintage condition.
