This beautiful set of 3 handmade feather and pipecleaner bumblebees is on its original card, which attributes these hatpins to Catherine Jackson of Haddon Hall Millinery. Located in the famous Haddon Hall hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, this millinery shop was owned by Catharine and Thomas Detweiler. The orange, brown, and white bumblebees are mounted on short brass pins for easy placement on a hat. Their fuzzy bodies are composed of coiled pipecleaner, with an orange thorax and an orange and brown striped abdomen. The antennae and wings are made from feathers. They have been kept safe inside a clear plastic case.
The largest bee measures 1-3/4 × 1-3/4 inches. The two smaller bees each measure 1 × 1 inch.
