Book Details: This is a scarce, early, comprehensive, and highly influential volume of occult wisdom. The author, the daughter of a tobacco mogul, was a founding director of “The League to Stay Young” on Long Island. Straiton’s work melds a variety of spiritual and philosophical traditions including Christianity, Hinduism, and Theosophy. It blends religion, symbolism, mythology, astrology, Egyptology, and much more.
Condition: Both volumes have clean covers with minimal shelf wear. The bindings are tight. The pages are in very good condition, with no significant toning. Volume II has scant underlining, more towards the earlier part of the book. Inside the front cover of Volume II is an astrological chart drawn in red ink for the Anglo German Oil Co., founded April 4, 1908 in London.
The slipcover has significant wear and rubbing to its edges and is split at the top front edge, as can be seen in the photos.
